EACH WAY BETTING - Look at the options it might make you think again.

 Should I bet each way?

This is a question often asked by punters when having a bet; I personally have never felt comfortable with this form of betting.
Of course a lot will depend on the price of the horse, but the answer should always be NO! Remember when you bet each way you are actually placing two bets: - the Win and the Place part. Below are some options to steer you away from the each way bet.

Option 1. The WIN and Small Place Bet

Most punters betting the same amount on the win and place will generally lose in the long run. When the horse wins they do not have enough on the win part of the bet and when it finishes unplaced they lose two bets. If you must back each way then have a WIN and small place bet on horses with a price of 10-1 or more. If the horse is placed, then the small place bet will get your entire stake back. This is like having a free bet and helps maintain your bank balance. If you are playing with £10 stakes, instead of splitting your stakes and having £5 each way
you could have £6 win and £2 each way,
making your bet an £8 WIN and £2 place.

 Example: Horse trading at 20/1

1. Having staked £5 each way and the horse wins, the profit would be £125 - if placed the profit would be £20.
At £8 WIN and £2 place the profit would be £170 - if placed
the profit would be £2.
I think you can see the advantages of betting this way

Option 2. Back Two Horses in the same Race

Another option and probably my favourite, is to back two
horses in a race. The object of betting on horses is to find the winner. When having an each way bet, you are in fact having
two bets, the win part and the place part.
So why not back two horses in the race?
Here’s an example. You go to the races and have an each way
bet on one horse in each of the six races.
This means you will have had 12 bets.  For the same stakes, you would be much better off backing two horses in every race. Betting like this will increase your odds of finding the winner and give you a better chance to make a profit. If in a race were there are not enough horses for each way betting, or where you fancy just one horse in the race, then double your stakes.

 Option 3. The Straight Forecast

Another alternative to the each way bet is the Straight Forecast. If you think the short priced favourite looks a big danger to your main bet, then have a Straight Forecast Bet. We all remember the times when our good priced selection just gets touched off by the “so and so” favourite. So why not have your main bet on the horse of your choice and then have a Straight Forecast on the favourite to win with your selection to finish second? If the favourite wins the race and your selection does finish second then you win. These small wagers have helped me in the past from the pain of finishing second and have paid good dividends.

Looking at the above options you can see why you should stop betting each way. Remember, do we back a horse because we think it will get a place? No, we back it because we think it will WIN!

Be positive about your selections and bet to WIN.
